The purpose of the summer reading challenge is to encourage all students to continue reading, to enrich learning, and to foster a lifelong love of reading. This year’s challenge is meant to give parents and students more autonomy and choice over what you and your child decide to read this summer.
The lists included are merely suggestions if you wish to use them. Our goal is for you to encourage your child to read…to read alone, to read with someone, to listen to someone read to them…JUST READ!
Students who read a minimum number of books for their grade level, will receive a prize when they return to school. Parents can send in a note with their child during the first week of school stating that the students have completed their minimum number of books for summer reading or that they read every day.
